How does an acoustic sealant reduce noise?
It seals the small gaps around a partition's perimeter where sound leaks through. A continuous airtight bead at the floor, head and edges stops that flanking path, which improves the wall's sound insulation.
Where exactly do I apply it?
Run it around the perimeter of the partition before the boards go on, so it is compressed between the framework and the board. You can also bed boards onto studs with it.
Is it the same as a fire sealant?
No. AS900 is for acoustic sealing. For fire-rated or intumescent joints, use our FS4 Fireshield acoustic intumescent sealant.
Can it be painted?
Yes, as an acrylic-based sealant it can be overpainted once skinned, which suits visible interior joints.
Is it for interior or exterior use?
Interior use, typically within drywall and partition systems.
Single or box of 12?
Choose a single cartridge for a small job, or the trade box of 12 for a full partitioning run.
