Bond-It SKU: BDEFRG750-12

Description

Bond-It B1 is a moisture-curing polyurethane expanding foam with a certified B1 fire rating. So it is the foam to specify when the inspector wants a tested classification on a window perimeter, service penetration or fire-compartment joint.

B1 foam is tested to EN 1366-4+A1:2010, EN 13501-2+A1:2013 and DIN 4102-1. Plus, it is available in both straw-grade aerosol and gun-grade versions.

Where to use B1 Fire Resistant Foam

  • Installation of window and door frames where a fire-rated backfill is required
  • Service and cable penetrations through compartment walls
  • Sealing of thermal and acoustic insulation boards
  • Reducing thermal bridges through junctions
  • General gap filling in fire-compartmented interiors

Key Features & Benefits

  • B1 classification, tested to EN 1366-4+A1:2010, EN 13501-2+A1:2013 and DIN 4102-1
  • Excellent adhesion to most construction substrates
  • Low curing pressure, so frames do not distort during cure
  • High thermal and acoustic insulation
  • Good volume expansion for efficient gap filling
  • CFC-free and HCFC-free formulation
  • Available in aerosol straw and gun-grade

Usage / Application

First, make sure the substrate is firm, clean, dry and lightly moistened. Because the foam cures on ambient moisture, a light mist of water speeds things up.

Next, keep the can at +5 °C to +30 °C. For chilled cans, warm them gently in lukewarm water below +45 °C, never above +50 °C, because the can may burst.

Then shake the can vigorously for at least 30 seconds. After that, fit the straw adaptor or foam gun. Apply upside down for a controlled output.

Finally, cover the cured foam with an opaque finish such as sealant, filler, plaster or paint, because it is UV-sensitive.

FAQs

Is this foam suitable around fire doors?

It is a B1-rated foam suitable for tested applications. However, always check the test report matches your specific construction before relying on it for fire-stopping.

Can I leave cured B1 foam exposed?

No, cured foam must be covered. Otherwise, UV light will degrade it over time.

Does B1 foam need moisture to cure?

Yes, mist the substrate before application for the best results. The foam cures on ambient moisture.

Do I need training to use it?

Yes, from 24 August 2023, adequate training is required before industrial or professional use of PU-containing products under EU REACH. This rule applies across the whole PU foam category.
