Do these screws match black ironmongery?
Yes. That's the whole point of them. The black organic finish is made to sit alongside black hinges, latches and gate hardware so the screw head doesn't stand out. Bright zinc screws look wrong against black fittings. These don't.
Are they for interior or exterior use?
The finish is an exterior black organic coating with a corrosion rating of 3, which covers urban and industrial settings with low salt exposure. That suits interior joinery and sheltered outdoor work. For coastal spots or anywhere with heavy salt, step up to a stainless or higher-rated fixing.
What's the difference between round head and countersunk?
A round head sits proud on the surface with a domed top, so it's the one to use when the screw stays visible on hardware. A countersunk head pulls flush into the timber for a flat finish. For fixing black hinges and latches, the round head is usually what you want.
What size driver do they take?
They use a Pozi PZ2 recess, so a PZ2 bit or screwdriver is the match. It's one of the most common sizes going, so you've probably already got one to hand.
Will they hold in softwood without pre-drilling?
The 25 degree sharp point and 60 degree twin thread are built to bite and pull down quickly, so in most softwood you can drive straight in. Near an edge or in harder or thinner timber, a pilot hole still helps stop any splitting.
