Description

Bond-It High Strength Brick Acid is the double-strength version of the standard Brick & Patio Cleaner. It is built around a 16% hydrochloric acid formulation for professional brickwork clean-down.

Because it is twice as strong, it goes noticeably further per litre. Plus, it tackles the mortar haze and efflorescence that the standard cleaner will not shift.

Usage / Application

Always add cleaner to water, not the other way around. In addition, wear full PPE: gloves, overalls, boots and goggles.

First, protect metalwork and paint with polythene sheet and tape. Then saturate the brickwork with water before you start.

Before a full clean, test on an inconspicuous area at 4:1 water to cleaner. For normal use, dilute 2 to 4 parts water to 1 part cleaner. For efflorescence, dilute to 8:1.

Next, apply by brush and let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Scrub occasionally, and make sure the area does not dry out. Finally, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Never tip rinsings onto plants or grass.

Also, do not use it on limestone, marble, stainless steel or aluminium, because the acid and its fumes attack all four.

Yes, HCl and its fumes attack stainless steel and aluminium. So, mask and protect metalwork thoroughly before you start.

How do I dispose of rinsings?

Rinse with plenty of fresh water to dilute as you go. However, do not dispose of concentrated rinsings in a drain that leads to a watercourse, and never tip onto plants or grass. Finally, always follow local disposal regulations.
