Can I paint over Super-Mate?
Yes. That is the main reason to choose it over silicone. Let the skin form first, then water-based paints can usually be applied within about an hour.
What is the difference between this and a silicone sealant?
Super-Mate is a siliconised acrylic, so it overpaints and tools cleanly for decorating. Silicones like Ulti-Mate flex more and resist water better, but they cannot be painted. Pick acrylic for frames you will paint, silicone for wet or high-movement joints.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
Only for dry decorating joints. For baths, showers and other wet areas choose a sanitary silicone such as Xtreme anti-mould or S3.
Can I use it on PVCu windows?
Yes, for internal sealing around PVCu frames. For external PVCu joints a neutral cure silicone usually performs better.
Will it stop draughts around a frame?
Yes, it is ideal for sealing gaps around timber and metal window and door frames with limited movement.
Does it need a primer?
No, it has improved adhesion to most common building materials. Just make sure the surface is clean, dry and sound.
How should I store it?
Keep cartridges cool and dry, ideally between +5 °C and +15 °C, and use within 24 months.
