Description

Bond-It Brick & Patio Cleaner is a powerful acid-based cleaner for masonry. It strips mortar haze, cement splashes and light oil stains from brick, paving, tiles and concrete.

Plus, when diluted, it removes efflorescence too. So it is an essential part of any bricklayer's after-care kit.

Where to use Brick & Patio Cleaner

  • Cement and mortar splashes on brickwork, paving, tiles and concrete
  • Earthenware and concrete surfaces in general
  • Efflorescence (use diluted)
  • Light oil and grease stains on external hard surfaces

However, do not use it on limestone or marble, because the chemistry attacks these surfaces. Also, avoid contact with steel, copper, aluminium and titanium.

Usage / Application

Always add cleaner to water, not the other way around. Also, wear gloves, overalls, boots and goggles from start to finish.

First, protect metalwork and paint with polythene sheet and tape. Then saturate the brickwork with water. This stops the acid attacking fresh mortar.

Before a full clean, test on an inconspicuous area at 2:1 water to cleaner. For normal use, dilute between 2 and 4 parts water to 1 part cleaner. For efflorescence, dilute to 4:1.

Next, apply by low-pressure hose or brush. Let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes, scrubbing occasionally, and making sure the area does not dry out. Finally, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Never throw rinsings onto plants or grass.

Can I use Brick & Patio Cleaner indoors?

Only with extreme care and thorough ventilation. Because acid fumes can attack sensitive surfaces, protect decorative work carefully before you start.

The stains are still showing, what now?

First, repeat the process with the same dilution. If the stain still persists, use the cleaner undiluted. However, test it first on an inconspicuous area.

Can I use it for mould, lichen or mildew?

No, acid cleaner is not the right chemistry for organic growth. Instead, use Bond-It Mould Stop or Patio Blaster.

How does this compare to High Strength Brick Acid?

Brick & Patio Cleaner is the general-purpose strength. By contrast, High Strength Brick Acid is double-strength (16% HCl) and reserved for professional use under an EPP licence.
