Description

The TIMCO C2 Tongue-Fix is a premium woodscrew made for secret fixing tongue and groove boards. You drive it at an angle through the tongue, then the next board slides over the head and covers it, so the finished face stays clean with nothing on show.

The C2 twin-cut point bites fast and cuts as it goes, which helps stop the fragile tongue splitting while you work. It suits floorboards, panelling, cladding and matchboard for interior jobs.

FAQs

How do you secret fix tongue and groove boards?

Drive the screw at an angle through the top corner of the tongue. The groove of the next board then slides over it and hides the head, so nothing shows on the face.

What angle do you drive tongue and groove screws at?

Around 45 degrees through the tongue works well. Sink the head just below the tongue so the following board seats fully without catching on it.

Do you screw through the tongue or the face?

Through the tongue. That keeps the board face clean and lets the next board conceal the fixing for a hidden finish.

What size screw should I use for floorboards?

For tongue and groove floorboards a 3.5mm gauge screw about 45mm long is the usual pick. It grips the joist well without driving too deep.

Do I need to pre-drill?

A small pilot hole near the tongue helps stop splitting, especially in hardwood. In softer timber the twin-cut point often lets you skip it.

Can I use these outdoors?

No. The zinc and yellow finish is for interior work such as floorboards, cladding and panelling inside the home.
