Description

TIMCO Element Screws are a jointing screw built for the window trade. Fabricators reach for them to pull uPVC and aluminium frames together, and to fix frames back to mullions and transoms. The truncated shallow pan head sits low in the joint, so the fixing stays neat once the frame goes together.

This is the Zinc & Yellow (ZYP) finish with a Phillips PH2 drive and a self-tapping AB point, sized for interior fabrication work on the bench or on site.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Truncated shallow pan countersunk head sits flush in the joint for a tidy finish
  • Self-tapping AB point bites straight into uPVC and aluminium, so most sections need no pilot hole
  • Phillips PH2 recess drives quickly and keeps the bit seated under load
  • Zinc & Yellow (ZYP) coating, salt-spray tested to 240 hours for solid corrosion resistance
  • Joins frame to frame and frame to mullion or transom in a single pass
  • Carbon steel body gives a firm mechanical hold in the joint
  • Supplied in trade box quantities to suit fabrication runs

Usage / Application

Element screws earn their keep in window and door fabrication, where frame sections need pulling together quickly and cleanly. Typical jobs include:

  • Joining uPVC window and door frames frame to frame
  • Fixing frames back to mullions and transoms
  • Assembling aluminium frame sections
  • Bench assembly and interior fabrication in the window trade
  • Mechanical jointing where a low-profile head keeps the joint clean

FAQs

What are TIMCO Element Screws?

They are a mechanical jointing screw used in window and door fabrication. The truncated shallow pan head and self-tapping thread let you join uPVC and aluminium frame sections together, and fix frames to mullions and transoms.

What do you use to join uPVC window frames?

A jointing screw like the Element Screw does the job. The self-tapping AB point cuts its own thread in the uPVC section, so you can pull two frames together without a separate pilot hole on most profiles.

Can element screws fix a frame to a mullion or transom?

Yes. That is one of their main uses. The screw draws the frame tight against the mullion or transom, and the shallow pan head sits low so it does not foul the joint.

What drive do element screws use?

A Phillips PH2 recess. Fit a PH2 bit and drive at a steady speed to keep the bit seated and the head neat.

Do you need a pilot hole?

On most uPVC and light aluminium sections the self-tapping AB point starts on its own. For harder or thicker sections a small pilot hole helps keep the screw on line.

What does the ZYP finish mean?

ZYP is Zinc & Yellow Passivate, a coating that gives the carbon steel screw its yellow colour and its corrosion resistance. These are salt-spray tested to 240 hours.
