Description

FS4 Fireshield AC is a 4-hour fire-rated intumescent acoustic sealant. It is a solvent-free, flexible acrylic sealant that swells when it meets heat, forming an inert barrier to smoke and flame.

As well as fire performance, it delivers a tested 55 dB acoustic rating. Plus, it takes water-based paint after just one hour.

Usage / Application

First, check that every surface is clean, dry, sound and free from dust and oil. Then cut the nozzle at 45° to an opening slightly larger than the joint.

Next, apply with a standard sealant gun and fill every crevice fully. After that, tool the bead with a wetted spatula or Sealant Applicator Tool. Finally, clean any excess with soapy water before it dries.

Do not apply in damp conditions, because moisture disrupts the cure.

FAQs

Can Fireshield AC be used around fire doors?

No, it is not for use around fire doors. For door frames, specify a purpose-tested door seal instead.

Is it suitable for external joints?

No, it is designed for interior linear joints and penetrations only.

What is the maximum joint movement?

±12.5% of joint width. However, for higher movement, specify a fire-rated silicone or hybrid sealant.

Do I need to paint it?

Painting is optional. Because Fireshield AC accepts paint within an hour, it fits well on dry-lined finishes where decoration follows quickly.
