What does S3S mean on a work boot?
The S3S rating means it is S3 to the 2022 standard with a metal free penetration resistant midsole; a heat resistant outsole tested to 300 degrees, for hot surfaces; a fuel and oil resistant outsole; slip resistance tested to the 2022 footwear standard.
Is this a steel or composite toecap?
Composite. The Compositelite Operis Boot uses a non-metallic composite toecap, so it is lighter than steel and will not conduct heat or cold.
What size should I order?
Portwest footwear runs in full EU sizes (37-48). If you are between sizes or wear thick socks, take the larger size.
Can these handle hot surfaces?
Yes. The HRO outsole is heat resistant to 300 degrees for short contact with hot floors and surfaces.
Are they waterproof?
The upper is water resistant to shed rain and site wet. For standing water all day, choose a waterproof (S7) or wellington style.
