What does S3 HRO mean on a work shoe?
The S3 HRO rating means it is a 200 joule toecap, penetration resistant midsole, water resistant upper and a cleated energy absorbing sole, for wet and outdoor work; a heat resistant outsole tested to 300 degrees, for hot surfaces; the top slip resistance rating, tested on both ceramic and steel floors.
Is this a steel or composite toecap?
Composite. The Compositelite Operis Shoe uses a non-metallic composite toecap, so it is lighter than steel and will not conduct heat or cold.
What size should I order?
Portwest footwear runs in full EU sizes (37-48). If you are between sizes or wear thick socks, take the larger size.
Can these handle hot surfaces?
Yes. The HRO outsole is heat resistant to 300 degrees for short contact with hot floors and surfaces.
Are they waterproof?
The upper is water resistant to shed rain and site wet. For standing water all day, choose a waterproof (S7) or wellington style.
