Description

Seal It Roof Seal Bleed Blocker Primer is a specialist primer for use with the Seal It Roof Seal Liquid Membrane system. It is the required pre-treatment when you apply the membrane over bitumen, asphalt, roofing felt or EPDM.

Without this primer, the membrane will not bond reliably. As a result, the primer is an essential part of the roofing system rather than an optional extra.

Usage / Application

First, clean the substrate so it is dry and free from contaminants. If organic growth is present, treat it with Bond-It Mould Stop first.

Next, apply Bleed Blocker Primer to a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm on bitumen, asphalt, felt or EPDM. After that, reinforce the joints with Roof Seal Reinforcing Mat.

Then apply Roof Seal Liquid Membrane over the top. This hybrid-technology membrane is solvent-free and non-flammable, rain-safe in under an hour, and has a service life of up to 25 years.

Finally, in cold weather where substrate temperatures may drop below +5 °C within 24 hours, specify Roof Seal Accelerator as well.

FAQs

Can I use any other primer with Roof Seal?

No. Bond-It is explicit on this: other primers are not formulated for the Roof Seal range. So, always use Bleed Blocker Primer for guaranteed system performance.

At what thickness is it applied?

0.5 mm minimum on bitumen, asphalt, roofing felt and EPDM.

What happens if I skip the primer?

Failure will occur. As a result, the only remedy is to strip back the membrane and re-prime correctly. Therefore, it is always cheaper and faster to prime properly first time.
