Where should I not use acetoxy silicone?
Keep it off mirrors, bare metals, natural stone, marble and fresh concrete, because the acid released during cure can corrode or stain them. For those surfaces use our neutral cure Ulti-Mate.
Why does it smell of vinegar?
That smell is acetic acid, which is normal for an acetoxy silicone as it cures. It clears once the sealant has set, so keep the area ventilated.
Does the fungicide stop black mould?
It helps resist mould on the surface of the sealant. For permanently wet areas like shower trays we recommend Xtreme anti-mould silicone, which is guaranteed mould-free for up to 10 years.
Can I paint over it?
No, silicone will not accept paint. If you need a paintable joint, use Super-Mate siliconised acrylic instead.
Is it suitable for aquariums or pools?
No. This is a general purpose household silicone, not a specialist tank or pool sealant.
How soon can it get wet?
Allow it to cure fully before heavy water exposure. A surface skin forms in minutes, but full cure through the bead takes around 24 hours per 2 to 3 mm.
Single or box of 25?
Buy one cartridge for a small job, or the trade box of 25 for regular sealing work.
