FAQs

What is the difference between sherardised and galvanised square twist nails?

Both are zinc-coated to corrosion rating 2. Sherardising is a thermal-diffusion process that gives a harder, more even coating, which wears well on connector nails. In practice the protection is similar; sherardised just has a slightly tougher finish.

What are sherardised square twist nails used for?

Fixing timber connectors such as joist hangers, framing anchors and truss plates, where high grip and a durable coating both matter.

Why is the shank twisted?

The twist makes the nail drive with a screwing action and resists pull-out, keeping the connector tight against the timber under load.
