Description

The Bond-It All-Weather Wide-Gap Jointing Compound is the fastest way to point a patio. It works in wet or dry conditions on joints 5 mm wide and over.

Because it is supplied ready-to-use, there is no mixing, no special kit, and no more rained-off pointing days. Plus, it is up to 10 times faster than traditional pointing.

Where to use the Wide-Gap compound

  • Patios, pathways and paved areas of all kinds
  • Natural stone, terracotta, clay, concrete and cobble
  • Domestic and commercial paving installations
  • Open porch ways and covered areas

However, do not use it in areas that stay wet for long periods and rarely dry out. Also, avoid non-porous sub-bases, because prolonged submersion can soften the product.

Usage / Application

First, brush out all the joints so they are free of weeds and debris. The joints must be at least 5 mm wide and 25 mm deep.

Do not apply below +10 °C, because the compound will not cure properly. Open the vacuum pack, and tip out enough for around 10 m² onto a plastic sheet. Do not leave material on the slabs, because it can stain in hot weather.

Next, use a soft broom to work the compound into the joints. Then compact it with a jointing tool. After that, top up, and sweep off any excess at 45° to the joint. Finally, finish with a jointing tool for a smooth line.

In warm, dry weather, the joints are firm enough to walk on after 24 hours. However, cold or wet weather extends the setting time considerably. Also, do not use a power washer on fresh joints.

FAQs

Can I use it around trees and plants?

Yes, it is water- and air-permeable. Therefore, tree and plant roots continue to receive moisture and air through the joints.

Does it stop weeds?

Yes, it resists weed and plant growth between the joints once cured.

How much do I empty out at once?

Work in 10 m² sections. So, do not empty more than that at a time, because compound on the slab can stain in hot weather.
