Description

WP70 is Bond-It's trade-workhorse neutral cure silicone. It is a low-modulus (LMN) sealant designed for the one job most building silicone actually does: sealing the perimeter of external doors, windows and infill panels.

The neutral cure means low odour on site. Plus, the built-in PVCu adhesion promoters make it a safe choice on modern window profiles.

Where to use WP70 silicone

  • Perimeter sealing of external door and window frames
  • Weather-sealing of infill panels and cladding details
  • Building and construction joints between different materials with moderate movement
  • Glazing and façade work that needs a neutral cure

Key Features & Benefits

  • Permanently elastic with ±12.5% movement accommodation
  • Neutral (oxime) cure, with low odour and safe use on metals and alkaline substrates
  • Built-in PVCu adhesion promoters for reliable bond on modern frames
  • UV-stable pigments that hold their colour
  • Contains fungicide for mould resistance in kitchens, bathrooms and perimeter work
  • Rapid curing with a tool time of 5 to 10 minutes

Usage / Application

First, make sure every surface is clean, dry and free from grease. If the substrate is porous, prime it for best adhesion. For deep joints, use a foam backer rod or Bond-It Expanding Foam to set the joint depth.

Then cut the nozzle at 45° to an opening slightly wider than the joint. Next, apply the bead with a standard sealant gun at +5 °C to +45 °C.

After that, tool the bead with a Sealant Applicator Tool, not a wet finger, because that contaminates the surface. Finally, protect the joint from movement for at least 3 hours.

FAQs

Can I use WP70 on natural stone?

No, WP70 is not suitable for natural stone. Instead, specify a dedicated stone sealant. Similarly, avoid bitumen, asphalt, and joints that stay submerged in water.

How soon can water touch the joint?

Protect the joint from movement and direct water for at least 3 hours. In colder or more humid conditions, leave it longer.

Is WP70 paintable?

No, over-painting is not recommended. However, the wide colour range usually removes the need.

WP70 vs WP100, which one should I pick?

WP70 is the trade standard for door and window perimeter work in a 310 ml cartridge. By contrast, WP100 is the premium grade with broader EN 15651 classifications, more colours, and larger pack sizes. Choose WP100 where the specification demands glazing (G) or sanitary (XS1) approval.
